4 June 2010 - Western Weekender

DirectoryCentral is very proud to be supporting The Australia Women's and Children's Research Foundation (OZWAC). For every advertiser who signs up in June 2010 we will donate $10 to their foundation.

The Australian Women & Children’s Research Foundation (OZWAC) is a local charity which has contributed to major research into Women and Children’s Health in the Penrith region and beyond for over 12 years via its extensive research facilities at Nepean Hospital. In addition, Penrith local businesses and the community have been extremely supportive in making the Foundation a success.

Our mothers and children are the foundation of our future.  It is our responsibility to ensure that we provide them with the best possible start in life.  It is becoming increasingly clear that many diseases and problems that we once thought to be caused at birth or in early childhood, actually have their origins during foetal life.  Our knowledge of foetal life is limited.  The more we uncover the more we realise how little we know.  The more we learn the better we will be able to deal with the problems that can occur during pregnancy and childhood.

It is with the support of the local community and businesses that OZWAC, through its fundraising activities, can continue to help build the pitter-patter of little feet.  Every dollar raised benefits our local community.

OZWAC Achievements
Purchased much needed equipment to assist in many research projects.  A few highlights being a Blood Gas Machine, now used after all births and a 4D Ultrasound machine used for pelvic floor research.
Research into the causes of high blood pressure in pregnant women which leads to blood disorders in babies.
Studies into the use of foetal stem cells.

If you would like to help, please call OZWAC on 02) 4734-3205 or visit www.ozwac.com.au.

*** Train Timetable to be added as a feature ***

DirectoryCentral is very excited to announce that we have obtained permission to include the Blue Mountains train timetable in our Penrith Valley edition.  The timetable will show return travel from Glenbrook to Central from Monday to Friday.  Coupled with the inclusion of local bus timetables, we are confident that this will add immense value to the locals in the Penrith Valley and increase exposure for businesses included in the Directory.

Website Careers Await Students - Parramatta Sun, 3 June 2009

Three Granville TAFE students have been given the opportunity to launch their web design career before they've even completed their studies.

Students Anthony Brown, Jacky Tran and Charbel Zeaiter are studying for a Diploma of Website Development at Granville TAFE, and have spent the past two month designing a professional website for White River Design's new business arm, DirectoryCentral. So far they have spent nearly 80 hours designing and building the site.

"The students have been fantastic," DirectoryCentral manager, Debbie O'Connor said. "They kept to the brief given and offered up creative ideas that have really helped pull the site together". Ms O'Connor chose to use TAFE students to build the site because the new business, DirectoryCentral, is based around the concept of supporting local businesses and opening up opportunities.

"By involving the students we have been able to give them a project that shows them what it is like dealing with a client, sticking to a brief, meeting deadlines and finally producing a website," she said.
